Trendy Tuesday: Photography

Another wonderful Tuesday has arrived and we are now in October!! This Trendy Tuesday we are checking out trends with wedding photography- how fun! From first look & touch to engagement & boudoir, Kelli with Yah Photography has fabulous trends for it all! Check out her amazing tips and beautiful photos.

First Looks: For years brides have been doing first looks with their grooms but this year I have noticed a trend of actually not doing them with the groom but instead with their fathers, and bridesmaids. So brides are tending to get dressed with just their mom or sister(s) helping them and then come out to reveal themselves in the dress to their bridal party and then again separately to their father. It is a sweet moment and always so much fun to capture.

First Touch: Because a lot of brides are opting to not do a first look and want to go the more traditional route of seeing each other down the aisle, many of my brides have been opting to do a first touch. For this the bride and groom are able to “meet” before the ceremony without seeing each other (whether it be just touching hands behind a door, or having the groom blindfolded, or just facing the other way with his eyes closed, etc.), and it helps relieve a lot of those pre-ceremony nerves by being able to touch and talk but still keeps the surprise of seeing the dress for the first time when coming down the aisle.

Something Meaningful: More and more I have had engagement couples ask to have their session at a place (or with and object or thing) that means something to them, whether it is the place they had their first date, where he proposed, or the property/house they grew up. It is so inspiring to me as the photographer because I am able to see so many new places and stretch my creativity while creating memories with meaning that my clients will treasure forever (in addition to their wedding photos of course)

Boudoir: Most of my brides this year have opted to keep their boudoir session simple. Gone are the days of crazy contraption like outfits, my brides tend to be going with much simpler, prettier lace type outfits, robes, and pretty sets of bras and panties, mixed with a combo of things he loves. And because I do my sessions outdoors (weather permitting) this goes perfect with the simple beauty of nature.  Whether it’s his favorite t-shirt, a sports team memorabilia, or his favorite sweatshirt they all seem to be making an appearance during the session and are so much fun for me to incorporate… and I know he will love it too!

There we have it! What wonderful tips for everything wedding photography! Check out more tips, trends and talent by connecting with Yah Photography.
