Trendy Tuesday: As Told by Monte Durham

This Tuesday we have a very fun post that touches on trends in multiple wedding aspects. Recently, Mint to Be Weddings traveled to Washington to attend Wedding World hosted by Wedding Wire for a fun two day conference. One of their guest speakers was the fabulous Monte Durham from Say Yes To The Dress (Atlanta) on TLC. He has us in tears from laughing so hard but also gave some wonderful tips and trends on the wedding world. Here is what he had to say....

Decor/Tables: Long rectangular guest tables with waterfall napkins are very trendy right now. We also are seeing A LOT of mix-match, natural wood and metallics being incorporated in Decor.

Flowers: Loose arrangements are very "in" right now, we are not seeing as much of the traditional tight and ball arrangements now. Especially with bouquets. LOTS of lush greenery is being incorporated as well. We are seeing less and less actual flowers with centerpieces/accent pieces and more greens!

Invitations: A lot of wedding design/aspects are taking a very simple and traditional look. With stationery, we are seeing the simple single card rather than the entire invitation suite. We also are seeing less photos on save the dates and more of a clean, crisp and formal look.

Cakes: Cupcakes are back in action! We are seeing a lot of brides/grooms having a small 1-2 tier cutting cake and then surprising their guest with cupcakes or intricate/fun dessert bars! Once again, we are seeing the cake designs becoming more simple and traditional.

Bridesmaid Dresses: Lot's of short dresses are being seen. We are also seeing a lot of mix-match again with neutral colors, as well as rose sequin.
TIP: If your bridesmaids have short dresses, be sure to have a spa day and get pedicures!

Tuxedo/Suits: The groom and groomsmen outfits are looking more vintage. They too are mix-matching colors and patterns, incorporating vests and bow ties. The tweed look is very trendy right now, as well as blue!

Hair: We are seeing a more natural look with bride and bridesmaid hair. Lot's of half up and half down and some are even opting out of a veil.
TIP: If your gown has a low or dramatic back, be sure to do an up-do to compliment/feature it!

Bridal Gowns: We are seeing trends of lace, a natural waist, sleeves and non-traditional colors like mauve and blush. Buttons and bows haven't gone anywhere either!

Thanks for reading! :)

Check back in next week when we dive further into bridal gown trends/tips with Paige & Elliott Bridal!
