2016 Wedding Trends

Yayyyyyy, it's 2016! Happy New Year!

Now what does that mean for weddings?!?! Let's explore what trends you can expect to see this year.

We saw a lot of these trends surface at the end of 2015 and they are here to stay!

Style Me Pretty, Brides.com, Bridal Guide and other large wedding publications all agree that 2016 we can expect to see Rose Gold on EVERYTHING!!  From rings, linens, stationary, drinks, decor and anything in between, you can count on seeing this in 2016 weddings along with other metallic colors, like copper.

Color
As many of you might know, Pantone publishes their "color of the year" each year. For the first time ever, 2016 actually features two colors blended together; Rose Quartz AND Serenity. Pantone says, "Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace." Two very stunning and elegant colors in my option and even more powerful together!

Lighting
Another reoccurring trend is bold lighting. We can look forward to lots of lighting for the reception with chandeliers, market lights, lanterns, hanging light bulbs, eccentric candle decor and more! This makes for a very elegant and romantic environment for the couple and guest.

Cakes
Naked cakes will be staying for 2016, along with the beautiful hand painted cakes that we saw towards the end of 2015. Rather than having a cake table, a lot couples are creating a dessert table with an assortment of one tier cakes, pies, cheesecake, macaroons, etc. Perfect for the picky dessert eater!

The Dress
Publications are saying that for 2016, brides will be seen choosing dresses that cover their shoulders, even during summer and the warmer months. The trend of two-piece dresses and removable skirts will also continue to show in this coming year.

Flowers
For 2016, be on the look out for large, loose, organic floral arrangements. Along with many other trends, we saw this some towards the end of last year. Bridal Guide also suggests that we can expect to see tone-on-tone floral arrangements that create an ombre effect. This sounds fun!

Invitations
We can expect to see rose gold and metallic colors shimmering on invitations and stationery to match the wedding trend. Couples will also be branding their wedding by having custom monograms and stamps created!

Seating
More and more couples are steering away from the large round tables and moving towards the long rows of rectangular tables or a mixture of rectangular and square. This gives the guest a more intimate and relaxed feeling!

Music
2016 should be all types of fun with the music wedding trend. Couples are contracting multiple musical styles to perform at their wedding. Beginning with instrumental or choir type vendors for both the ceremony and cocktail hour and then switching over to a band or DJ for the reception. Not really a new trend but still fun and the best of both worlds!

Photos
#SelfieNation. Photos have become a large part of weddings and also a fun part for guest! Along with hiring a photographer, renting a photobooth or custom backdrop, couples are adding selfie stations/sticks to their reception for guest to snap a picture and upload for all to enjoy with a personalized wedding hashtag!

Highlight videos are also re-trending from last year! Couples are not only looking forward to tons of photos but also video snippets compiled into a beautiful short clip for them to share with the world.

Food/Beverages
You can expect to see rose wine & champagne being served at more weddings and during cocktail hour to go with the trend. You might even grab a drink before the ceremony! Couples are adding pre-ceremony cocktails and also focusing on providing creative and unique pairings for the cocktail hour. They are even adding fun sections like beer gardens, which features craft beers.

Guests
And lastly, so many couples are choosing to have smaller, intimate weddings or an elopement rather than the typical 100-200 person wedding. I believe that we will see this quite often throughout 2016. This allows couples to save money while still having their dream wedding with those who are closest to them.

There you have it, trends of 2016! Some are re-occurring, some we caught a glimpse of at the end of last year and some are up and coming! Regardless, I am SO EXCITED for 2016 and all of the weddings that we get to be a part of!
