One Heart, One Way

"One Heart, One Way" is the Sigma Kappa Sorority motto. I am a proud SigKap Alumni from Appalachian State University and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the sisterhood. The sorority allowed me to have fun, meet new people, serve others through philanthropic efforts, grow as a person and now I am seeing that it was a great network for future endeavors.

Our sorority typically had over 90 members every year... that is ALOT of girls to meet, let alone get to know on a personal level. Although we did not know everything about every single sister, we new everyone's name and general facts about them. The sorority was GREAT about doing "get to know you" activities and coming together enough to where you had to get to know every girl some. It was such a great experience for me- I didn't join until almost a junior and always said "I'm not a sorority girl type" - prejudging. Then I decided to join after my brother graduated and left me and ended up eating my words! I fell in love with the sorority and the girls in it!  There were girls that came in all shapes, sizes, beliefs, majors and personalities!

I want to shout out to some of my fellow sisters whose paths have crossed mine after we all graduated and went our separate ways. I am so proud of them and thankful to have them in my life and as support.

One Paper Crane is a collective of musicians, artists, producers and singer-songwriters. Our name originates from the ancient Japanese belief that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes will be granted his or her wish or dream. To fold a thousand paper cranes, you can only fold one at a time. For us, that means we try to focus on and to be present to the one thing we are doing at the moment- each song, each performance, and each recording.

Vocalist Joelle McMahan and acoustic guitarist/vocalist Rob Bocchino come together to bring a fresh
take on many different genres of music. Often times cellist Diane Cox and guitarist Brad Bailey join in and bring the music to a whole different level. One Paper Crane plays at wine bars, restaurants vineyards, weddings, special events, and more. With an extensive song repertoire there is sure to be
something for everyone to enjoy, but we can also learn any song you desire for your specific event. Check out the calendar on our website or like our page on Facebook to see where we are playing next! Hope to see you there!

Lexi Ellis

Lexi also contacted me shortly after I started my business to wish me the best, congratulate me and tell me about her recent endeavors. Lexi works as an Independent Consultant for Rodan + Fields, the same doctors who created ProActiv.  After years as a top selling clinical brand in Nordstrom, R+F is now the fastest growing, premium skincare brand in the US and recently went global into Canada February 2nd.  R+F is centered around anti-aging and making people confident in their own skin. The four regimens include: Redefine – for appearance of lines, pores and loss of firmness; Reverse – for
appearance of brown spots, dullness and discoloration; Soothe  for sensitive, irritated skin and facial redness; and Unblemish – for acne and post acne marks.  All of their products are at least a 2 month supply and are backed by a 60 day, empty-bottle, money back guarantee.  What bride doesn’t want to have the best skin of their lives on their big day?!  And their mini facials would be perfect for bridesmaid’s gifts.  As a consultant Lexi has loved getting to reach out to others and help them find happiness in finding the perfect regimen for their skin. Mary Kate Cappiello
Mary Kate was actually in my "pledge class" meaning that we joined at the same time. I ended up reaching out to the number one catering company in Chrlotte, Queen City Catering, to introduce myself as a wedding planner and she is the Events Coordiantor!  Mary Kate has been amazing and so supportive along with Shannon from QCC. Since reaching out to them, they have contacted me twice to help out on events or weddings! I am actually assisting with a wedding on May 23rd and cannot wait to work alongside my sister! Queen City Catering goes above and beyond for their clients! They do personal tastings, and get to know you and your vision for your big day! They are so very creative with their food and presentation as well. QCC provides quality and unique catering and take the extra step and make the extra efforts to ensure a happy customer! 5 stars in my book and I always recommend them!
